| FOREWORD | |
| Following the success of 'About Plumpton' which was published to raise funds for the new Village Hall ten years ago, it was decided to produce a follow-up edition. It is hoped that this booklet will help newcomers to the village understand the history of the area and also detail what has happened in the ten years since the opening of the Hall. Our new Hall has brought a new focus to the village and is used almost continuously throughout the year by local clubs and societies and outside organizations. The New Village Hall Appeal was launched in June 1994 and to most people's surprise and delight (not least the Appeal Committee members!) £35,000 was raised within the year. The final total raised in the village was £46,000, not bad for a village of 2,000 inhabitants. We were all amazed when this figure was put on the "thermometer" which was placed on the door of No 1 Hill Rise Cottages. Our Hall is the envy of surrounding villages and we are deeply indebted to the forward looking members of our community who worked so hard to bring it into being and to the people who are still giving up their time and using their skills to keep it in the wonderful state of repair that we now see.
