April 2008: We are nearly there! The Village Action Plan team is in the midst of preparing the presentation material to display in the Village Hall on Tuesday 22nd April 2008. The presentation will be on display on boards from 5pm to 10pm. Why not come after school, or work, before or after dinner. It is also the same evening as the Plumpton Annual Parish Meeting being held at 7.30pm so why not come to both?
We had a staggering 82% response rate in other words 469 households responded. We believe this to be the best in Sussex, and is definitely a fair representation of views across the village. On top of this, 80 youth questionnaires were received, and a further 109 children at the Primary School gave their views.
We employed a professional person with experience of collating survey results this was a considerable help to the team and helped to ensure the integrity of the analysis. This has enabled us to interrogate the statistics in a variety of ways before we started to formulate thoughts on potential actions for the village in the future.
It has been a long process but we do believe it will be hugely beneficial for the village in the future. The results identify potential actions on many aspects environment, traffic and parking, speeding, community and so on.
The actions cannot all happen overnight some will be immediate, others medium-term. Some will require County Council funding; others could be funded by the village itself.
After the presentation, we will assess whether it may be worthwhile holding a second open event so if you miss the 22nd April don’t panic there may be another opportunity.
The next stage will be to finalise the Implementation Plan, which will be delivered to all households. Early July 2008 is our aim for this.
Come and find out - be there on the 22nd April.
What is a Village Action Plan?
A Village Action Plan is a way of agreeing what we want for Plumpton, now and in the future.
Issues might include housing, transport, the environment, child care, sports and other facilities but it is up to us to say what is important.
A good Village Action Plan can help to build our community, protect what we like and improve village life where we feel that it may be necessary. It is up to us as a village to make it work.
With a representative and well-researched plan, we may be able to open the door to different sources of funding for activities within the parish.
Our Village Action Plan has been part funded by Action in Rural Sussex, is supported by the Parish Council and most importantly the work is being done by a team of volunteers.
