Millennuim Fund and Travers Trust
Millennium Fund
The Millennium Fund was originally set up with monies raised by the sale of the Millennium Map and notelets
Over time other fund raising events such as the Summer Fair have proved very successful.
The Fund is mainly to support projects for village societies and is aimed primarily (but not exclusively) at the young.
Applications can be made either to Nick Satchell or Brenda Watson

Travers Trust
"The Parish was formerly possessed, by what means is not known, of a Copyhold Tenement and Garden ground of about 20 perches, situated about half a mile from the Church on the road leading to Plumpton Green. It was long divided into two habitations occupied by two paupers and their families and the overseer bore all expenses of repairs.
"By his Will, dated September 26th 1710, Thomas Travers of Plumpton (Churchwarden of Plumpton) gave to the Parish a messuage and tenement, with land and garden of about 20 perches, situated at the point where the road from Plumpton to Plumpton Green joined that from Lewes to Ditchling. He created two life interests and directed that after these had expired, the property should go to the overseers and churchwardens of Plumpton, to always be inhabited by two poor families of the parish. Both this property, and the other previously mentioned have long ceased to be inhabited by paupers at the expense of the parish. Both were sold many years ago, the money was invested by the Charity Commissioners and the very small income of a few pounds a year, is paid over by them to the Parish. "
Extract from a lecture delivered at Plumpton by Mr W H Hills J.P. on 17th November 1920, one of the Hon Secs of the Sussex Archaeological Society, Lewes.
The Thomas Travers Charity was entered in the Central Register of Charities on 7th November 1962.
Proceeds are distributed amongst the poor and needy of the Parish.
Any inhabitant of the Parish of Plumpton is able to apply for help should a crisis arise.
The Trustees, who are elected by the Parish Council, are Mrs Brenda Watson and Mrs Foye Ridley.
