The Freedom of Information Act requires parish councils to make available to the public, information and details on how councils operate (excluding information which may be confidential). This includes, but is not limited to, minutes of meetings and councillor's declaration of interest.
Councils are also required to advise how this information may be viewed/obtained and to list, where appropriate, costs that may be passed on to the public for providing such information.
For Example: Minutes of Plumpton Parish Council meetings are published on this website.
Other documents, such as councillor's declaration of interests are not listed on the site.
(The FOI Act does not stipulate which information must be posted on a website, only that the information be available).
Documents that are on the website can be printed by members of the public free of charge, direct to their printer.
If a member of public requires copies of documents that are not available on the website (or does not have access to the internet, or chooses not to print a document that is on the website), the Council is entitled to charge a fee for the printing of each page, together with a fee for mailing the document.
